Thursday Thirteen - In Honor of Mother’s Day

Thirteen things I did not get from my mother.

1.  Protection - My mother did not protect me.  I was physically and sexually abused.

2.  Listen - My mother did not listen to me.  I told her about abuse that was happening, and she did nothing.

3.  Comfort - When I was hurt or sick, my mother never comforted me.  My mother would pull away from me when I tried to hug her.

4.  Honesty - My mother did not tell me the truth.  My mother was a compulsive liar.  She never told the truth, even when the truth would have been easier to tell.

5.  Knowledge - Knowledge of women stuff (hormones, sex, menstruation), you name it, my mother did not talk about it.

6.  Cooking - I always wanted to cook.  My mother never let me in the kitchen to try cooking.

7.  Possessions and food - My mother would not let me have what my siblings had, unless they had the chance to choose first.

8.  Support - My mother did not support me in anything that I did.  She did not go to plays, events, anything that had to do with me.  My mother is excellent at giving criticism.  I got lots of that.

9.  Religion - My mother practiced a warped version of Catholicism.  She tried to give me this one.  No thanks, I will pass on this one.

10.    Family - Because we lived in an abusive household, loyalty was expected, even if you were having the shit kicked out of you.  It was “the family” against the big bad world.

11.  House cleaning/ clutter - On the outside, our house looked very nice.  On the inside,  ohh baby, let me tell you, it was another story all together.

12.  Being true to yourself - Materialism, that in a word is what my mother was all about.  Labels, appearances, what other people think, being the best, being the richest, whatever, and if you were not you would lie about it.  My mother was all about keeping up appearances at all cost.  How you truly feel, and what you truly believe did not matter.

13.  Love - My mother did not teach me about love.  In fact, my mother often told me that she hated me and wished that I had never been born.  My mother blamed me for any and all problems in our family, and for problems she had with my dad.

So to summarize:  If you want to be a good mother, just give your child everything that I did not get.

5.  He howls every time I say my nieces name.

6.  His favorite toy is his Blue Ball.

7.  His favorite pastime is to look out the window and watch the birds and the squirrels.

8.  He may only be a little dog, but his protective bark makes him sound like a German Shepard.

9.  He is a Lhasa Apso.    About the Breed:  Taken from http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/lhasaapso.htm

The land of Tibet was the home of the Lhasa Apso - the breed taking its name from the sacred city of Lhasa. For at least two thousand years the breed was only bred in Tibet by holy men and nobles. It was used as a watchdog in temples and monasteries, and was considered sacred, for when its master died, his soul was thought to enter the Lhasa Apso’s body. Although they were thought to bring good luck to their owners, Lhasa Apsos were virtually impossible to buy. Happily these very precious dogs, and the equally prized Tibetan Terrier, spread to other parts of the world, mainly because the Dalai Lama. Tibet’s ruler would present them to visiting foreign diplomats. The breed was first seen in Britain in the 1920’s and was introduced to the US in the 1930’s.

10.  He has a rather large arsenal of tricks:  He can give hugs, catch and toss a ball, sit, shake, give 5, on the side, in the hole, and he has soul!  Just to name a few.

11.  When I am at Jehara’s flat, if he sits on her beautiful ivory rug from West Elm he totally blends in, and I often trip over him.

12.  He is my little protector!

13.  I love him with all my heart!

Thursday Thirteen Think Pink

Thirteen Things about pink and neon pink.  Okay, this one is for my sister.  We were doing these writing exercises, and one of them was:  What do you do when you are in a Neon Pink Mood?  I never read mine to my sister so I am going to write it here today.  I love you sis! I miss you sis!!!!  Why do you live so far away from me???????

1.  When I am in a neon pink mood, I love to chew Hubba Bubba Pink Bubble Gum, or Bublicious Bubble Gum!

2.

When I am in a neon pink mood I hop into my neon pink Mercedes convertible with my neon pink flamingo and I drive to my neon pink cabana at my beach with the neon pink sand where I lay under a neon pink palapa on my neon pink lounge chair while my cabana boy dressed in neon pink pants brings me a neon pink strawberry daiquiri.   Ooh  awwww  I am now blind from the brightness of the neon pink.

3.  Bright pink is the energy color I send to people with strong white light when my friends are feeling down on themselves.  I send my love energy on a neon pink cloud.  I think neon pink helps to get their attention.

4.  Sometimes I surround myself with a pink bubble while I meditate with Rose Quartz.

5.  Sometimes I am tickled neon pink when I hear about the exploits of my very mischievous niece.

6.  When I drink too many margaritas I see neon pink elephants.

7.  If you want to see a Neon Pink tank…  ;)  click here:  http://www.aleksandramir.info/projects/pinktank/pinktank.html

8.  Pink is the color of universal love. Lovers of beauty favor pink. A pink carnation means “I will never forget you”.

9.  Pink is a combination of red and white. The quality of energy in pink is determined by how much red is present. White is the potential for fullness, while red helps you to achieve that potential. Pink combines these energies. Shades of deep pink, such as magenta, are effective in neutralizing disorder and violence. Some prisons use limited deep pink tones to diffuse aggressive behaviour.

10.  Pink provides feelings of caring, tenderness, self-worth, love, acceptance, calm feelings, relaxation, acceptance, contentment.

11.  Reebok makes a neon pink shoe!  Please get me a pair of these for my birthday!   he he he he

12.  Using Pink: Both red and pink denote love but while red is hot passion, pink is romantic and charming.  Use pink to convey playfulness (hot pink flamingos) and tenderness (pastel pinks).  Multiple shades of pink and light purple or other pastels used together maintain the soft, delicate, and playful nature of pink.  Add strength with darker shades of pinks and purple and burgundy.

13.  Pink is the universal color of Love, which makes it a perfect feng shui color to soothe the energy.  Its gentle and delicate feng shui vibrations have a proven soothing effect on one’s behavior.  You could almost say that, as a feng shui color, Pink literally soothes the heart and fills it with love!

13 of My Favorite Goddesses

Thirteen of My Favorite Goddesses

1.  Kuan Yin - Goddess of Compassion.

Exerpt from Goddess & Heroines by Patricia Monaghan

Just as Catholic Christianity has provided an antidote to pure theological patriarchy by encouraging the reverence of the Virgin Mary, so Chinese Buddhism evolved a feminine bodhisattva, or Buddha-to-be, named Kuan Yin. And just as Mary captured the hearts of Catholic worshipers, so Kuan Yin far outstripped the male bodhisattvas in popularity. Both in Japan (as Kwannon, who is often pictured as male) and in pre-revolutionary China, this semidivine being was honored in virtually every home; she was the most powerful being in the entire Chinese pantheon.

It was said that Kuan Yin was so concerned for humanity that, upon receiving enlightenment, she chose to retain human form rather than transcend it as pure energy. And so she would stay until every single living creature attained enlightenment. Her name translates “she who hears the weeping world”; Kuan Yin sat on her paradise island P’u T’o Shan answering every prayer addressed to her. The mere utterance of her name in prayer was said to assure salvation from physical and spiritual harm. Even better was the observance of Kuan Yin’s own testimony of peace and mercy; her most devout worshipers ate no flesh and lived entirely without doing violence to other beings.  **************

Aura: In the aura shows a very intuitive person, a person with prepackaged abilities that come from before birth to be used physically in this incarnation. These people tend to be square pegs as far as society and fitting in is concerned. This will change as  more of the current generation is born with this color and takes its place in society.
Healing: The opening up of intuition or of some psychic ability.

People with this aura will take on the attitudes and ways of those around them. The aura of others becomes their own aura. It is important for these crystal people to only surround themselves with the best influences possible, for obvious reasons. A person with a crystal aura must learn how to separate themselves from everybody else.
Healing: Sometimes used to fill in an empty spot where some energy was removed, so that nothing unwanted takes it’s place, till the person’s energy field can replace the vacuum with its own energy field.
